Beyond Seduction and Abortion: The Life and “Memoir” of Zulma Marache Basney

About Nicole C. Livengood

I am an award-winning educator, writer, independent scholar and business owner who walks with people toward their stories through freelance work, classes and worships.  My scholarship on nineteenth-century American women writers and antebellum-era abortion has appeared in journals including Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers, American Periodicals, American Journalism, and the Canadian Review of American Studies. My essays, poems, and musings have appeared or are forthcoming in Fish Barrel Review; Action, Spectacle;  Changing the World With Words, and my Substack, The Higher Call.

I love coffee, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I enjoy hiking with my husband in the Mid-Ohio Valley, and strolling solo in the English Cotswolds (but not through herds of cows!).
